Case Study – NDL Darlington

NDL are a one-stop shop for haulage, distribution, warehousing and logistics services.  The business has an extensive fleet of lorries and vans and operates throughout Europe.

In early 2006, Atomic Web Solutions was commissioned via Business Link to redevelop the existing brochure web site and marketing literature.  Although the company logo was not to be changed, we had a blank canvas for the rest of the branding.

The brief given to us was:

• Web site and printed literature re-development
• Content management facilities
• Photography requirement for web and print use
• Development of a ‘Track and Trace’ Extranet facility
• Search engine optimisation and marketing strategy
• Translation of key web pages into various European languages

Track and Trace Extranet Requirement

NDL wished to offer their customers the ability to login to their own secure area of the web site and access ‘Proof of Delivery’ documents in Portable Document Format (PDF) so they have proof that goods have been delivered, where and when.  Approximately 400 of these documents per day were required to be uploaded to customer areas of the web site.

Accounts for existing trade customers were to be set up and the ability for new customers to register for the service was required.
